just returned from the concert. OST was supported on the mruthangam by UKS and on the violin by ganesh prasath (?)
i entered when he was midway sabapathiku. the song list is as below:
1. sabapathiku Abhohi.
2.Natesan Namami Manirangu
3. Nagalingam Bajeham Sankarabaranam
4. Kana vendamo Sriranjani
5. Eppo varuvaro Jonpuri and
6. Kandavar Kunthalavarali

this was to be followed by a Q&A session for which I preferred not to stay. it was a long time since I heard manirangu and it was totally enjoyable. the kalpanaswara was a little hurried probably because of time constraint. sankarabaranam alapana was very elaborate and at a comfortable phase. it was thoroughly deep and minute. followed by the song and kalpanaswara without neraval. UKS's thani as usual was brilliant. In eppo varuvaro OST reached the zenith and there was 'oneness'. the violin support was excellent.
OST like Jithendra in Hindi movies has always been a moderate hero. probably that is the secret of his sustenance for this long. the music however was uncompromising.
UKS knows the trick of making his presence felt. his enthusiasm at his age is commendable but I would have liked it more the Vellore way.
Overall a short and sweet concert and a nice way for me to begin enjoying the season.

No pratimadhyama rAg handled. Abhohi & Sriranjani, ... well, a different experiment.

The theme was indeed "Om Namasivaya".
Karpaga manohara in malayamarutham and Esha Pahimam in Kalyani were sung before Sabapatikku.

The theme was Siva as it was planned to be telecast on Arudra Darshanam/Tiruvadirai

UKS's mini tani was scintillating. Since this will be u/led at Sangitapriya it will be nice if one of our laya experts uses it to explain intricacies of laya with a timeline. Of course the elegance of UKS is captivating. OST is equally endearing and the understanding between the two is outstanding!
