jyOtisvarUpiNi is the 68th mELa
I think D paTTammAl, Dr BM bAlamuraLikr.shNA and ashOk mAdhav have also composed in this rAga.
Interestingly, TKG has set a ShlOkA into a varNam in a rAga called "OmkArasvarUpiNi." Not sure whether this has anything to do with the rAga in discussion.
The starting words are,"jyOtisvarUpiNi uyar simhavAhini.." kOTIShvara aiyyer's composition is "gAnAmudapAnam," a Sanjay staple. "rAmE bhArata pAlita" of MD is rarely heard: http://www.sangeethapriya.org/~svasu/00 ... %20Chakra/.balusatya wrote:Prof.T.K.Govinda Rao rendered a kriti of Periasamy Thuran(AIR).....

GAnAmudha pAnam (Kotiswara Iyer), Jyothiswaroopini (Periyaswami Thooran), RAme Bharatha & Paranjyotishmathi PArvathi (Dikshitar), Sri Gayathri (Dr BMK) are the ones I can remember offhand. Mysore vasudevachar has also composed in this raga & Tyagaraja is said to have caused the lamps in a certain king's court to light up by the rendition of this raga though no kirtana sahitya in this raga by him is available with us today. A truly enchanting raga-would love to hear a full pallavi in it!
