Good carnatic violin teacher in Brisbane, Austalia

Hi friends...one of the families living here in Auckland is planning to shift to Brisbane. Their child of 15 years is learning violin here and would like to continue her education in Brisbane. Could some Rasika member please advise me on this matter ?

Hi Sam - As far as I know there are no Carnatic violinists in Brisbane. There is a good vocalist/vainika there (Smt Rajyashree Josyer Shrikanth) and she may be able to guide the student. Brisbane usually has to import accompanists from Sydney or Melbourne for concerts.

Based on Sri Mohan's reply, the only choice seems to be taking lessons on internet...this child has been learning for the last one year and seem pretty keen to continue. Could some one please suggest a good violin teacher who is doing it on the internet?

Actually my advice would be to go to a vocal teacher. if she already has learnt the techniques of learning the violin, then she should be able to play what her vocal teacher sings. For example, TN Krishnan was a disciple of Semmangudi.

Thank you Mohan...I have seen the child play and as a violinist, I feel that she needs a little more grounding before she can take on the style of training you are suggesting. In fact one of the flute students here who learnt the basic art in Singapore is continuing on the same basis you have suggested, from a vocalist, and believe me he is doing very well....
