Just noticed an article :"Amplification is killing live music " on www.narthaki.com
I have always felt that collectively we Indians seem to be slightly hard of hearing. This is considering how high the volume is at music or dance programmes - I find that always, it is much higher than necessary.
Is it because we (in the audience) are so indisciplined and noisy that the high volume is necessary to drown it all?
Is it because in general our cities are so polluted with noise that over time, we have become less sensitive?
On many occasions, I have found it better to listen to a concert from OUTside the hall, with the doors shut, than from inside! This is sad, considering it would probably be more comfortable to sit inside!
