Wow. Her Sri Rajagopalam is 24K gold. I still remember how moved I was when I heard it first.

Sri Rajagopala rarely fails to impress, no matter who renders it - such a grand composition! I suppose it takes a fair amount of vidwat to attempt it at all - One of my introductions to CM (Hyd Bros) and continues to be a favourite

I am sure Smt Vedavalli must have excelled in it.

I have had the good fortune to learn shri rAjagOpAla from Vedavalli Amma and her rendition is nothing short of outstanding... so many subtle nuances in the pATAntaram which provide a very deep glimpse into sAvEri.

Knandago2001,

Could you please tell me who organized this concert. I would like to become a member of this sabha. I am being transfered to Kolkata in the New Year and would love to listen to live Carnatic Music concerts. If the sabha has a web site etc would appreciate the information.

appu: welcome to our neck of the woods! The concert was organized by Sri. S. Kannan, secretary of Rasikhapriya. In order to attract a large audience and generate greater awareness of CM in Kolkata, he ensures that all performances are free. I'm not aware of a web URL for the organization. You could, however, call up the number that was listed in the Kolkata Concerts and Events thread.
Other organizations involved in organization of concerts in Kolkata include the Rasika Ranjana Sabha (mid-Jan series, Tyagaraja aradhana and other monthly events), Karnataka Association (formerly Mysore association - they organize the Purandara dasa aradhana every year) and the Andhra association. Welcome!!
