Probably one of the most looked forward to concerts this year. Tickets were sold out long before the event and some informal reports suggest that it was a great performance (courtesy a "certain" forum member!)
I am sure the Hindu would be out with a review tomorrow but would be great to have inputs from folks who attended

I do not know if I can do complete justice to the concert through this writing but let me give it a shot!!!!
I was driven to this concert due to sheer curiosity that probably many in the audience had. I had my apprehensions about a man and woman combination. My worst fears actually unfolded initially with Krishna having a few slips and not at his best at the chosen sruthi.
But the discomfort was meant to be only that much"¦"¦"¦.
From that point the concert began to unfold in its entire splendor and didn’t stop surprising and attracting the audience till the stop
The concert began beautifully with a viruttam in mayamalavagowlai, sahana, kalyani, reethigowlai"¦., finally ending in thodi, paving way for the moving and graceful "rave himagiri"

Thanks Venkatakrishnan. That made up somewhat for the disappointment of missing it. Quite an unusual format too...I was sort of curious about blending such totally different styles - especially in the swara section but it looks that they wisely refrained from doing that, instead taking turns to sing except for the odd krithi or two
I think the Vande Mataram may be the same one featured in the trailer of the forthcoming movie. Hope there is an encore in December...
