Since most of us keep attending to concerts of senior or sub senior artists, I felt that this time i should attend to concerts especially organised around noon time. The performance given by Sri Akshay Padmanabhan, a youngster, disciple of Padmabhushan, Sri P.S,narayanaswamy, was noteworthy. His alapanai of both Thodi & Sankarabaranam ragas were very good with bhava and lot of brighas. The kritis Palaragimpeve in Thodi & Enthukupeddhala in Sankarabaranam(main) were rendered to perfection depicting the PSN/Semmangudi school. The sankarabaranam was divinely bringing in nostalagic memories of late Sri S.Kalyanaraman. And I thought at the lower actave he adopted the nadaswara bani which was soothing to the ears. The support given by Akkarai Sornalatha on the violin was excellent. The mridangam accompaniment (forgot the name)was adequate.
I heard an old rasika showering accolades on the young vocalist towards the end of the program that he is fit enough to sing in 6:00 'o'clock slots.
