Probably this was the best of the entire festival.Smt Sowmya gave a very rich concert. Her voice was simply mesmerising one.She bagn with the varnam in saveri and rendered it in two speeds.The next composition was janaki ramana in sudhdha seemanthini. The swarakalpana at the line "Raktha naLina dhaLa" was really great depicting her command over the rare ragam. Then she gave a detailed alapana of harikhamboji followed by thyagaraja's chani thdi theve.The neraval and swarakalpana was done at "Pathitula brOchE pattadhikAriNi". Papanasam's sivan hindoLam composition the all time best "ma ramanan" came next. Next she gave a detailed alapana of mukhari which was really touching. It was sung with a great feel. Thyagaraja's enthanine varninthunu came up next.Then she sang the brisk seve srikantham of swathi tirunal. Poorvikalyani was sung as the main piece. I always loved her poorvikalyani and this was the first time i heard singg in live. She just revealed all the beauty of the ragam. It was simply superb. I hardly find any words to describe the ragalapana. She sang with a scholarly command and the raga was just touching the hearts of the rasikas. She came out with syama sastry's ninu vinaga mari. If i am not exaggerating the ambal mus thave been really pleased listening to this song,. The nerala at "Paramalobhulanu" was sung really well. Thaniavrthanam was by Sri neyveli narayanan was wonderful.She then sang the javali in khamas. She then gave a ffour minutes elaboration of the ragam Peelu and went for sadasiva bhramendral's Bhajare yadhunatham was sung. It was amazing. Then came thge chenchuruti composition and kurinji came up next. the concert ended with the mandari thillana which was sung in a brisk pace. The concert enmded with a mangalam of Sri thyagaraja. Sri Embar Kannan once again showed that he is unmatched. He gave a brilliant support to Smt.Sowmya.
Fianlly i must once agian thank the sabha for such rich concerts. The Sharadha Cultural Trust is doing enormous service to carnatic music. They just rock..!!
