It was different experience for me since Sri Santhanagopalan chose a racy style for this concert. All the songs were rendered at a brisk pace and song selection was such that it suited this style. All the alapanas were great, even though I would have loved a slightly longer version of todi. The nereval and swaras in todi had a lot TNS style passages and were quite enjoyable. Sri. S D Sridhar on violin was sweetness personified. Sri Murugaboopathy and Purshotaman shared a brilliant tani and their playing during the songs was apt.
This concert was a part of the Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana series by Naganallur Sri Thygararaja Sangita Samajam. I have posted the details of others concerts in Music & Festivals forum.

Patnam and Maha Vaidyanatha Iyer were peers, not Poochi. It is said that every Avani Avittam [thread changing ceremony day] Patnam would head over to Maha's house seek his blessing and Maha saying that such a senior vidwan should not prostrate before him, only for Patnam to reply "I want Iyerval's blessing". Source - Garland series.
