Once again Hyderabad's favourite Sanjay sir performed here today after a long time. He was superb as usual and did not disappoint his fans.I was late to the concert and missed the first item and got to know from a friend that it was sahana varnam. It was followed by asaveri song of thyagaraja.it had simply amazing kalpana swarams at the pallavi. Sanjay sir then sang the devamanohari of thyagaraja which was sung with great effect. then came the great elaboration of gangeyabhushani.it was simply amazing...!! absolutely no words....!1 He sang an amazing swarakalpana followed by the pallavi. Then came the tamil composition of tanjore quartet which came next to beautiful and completely soothing anandabhairavi
If the rest of the concert is to one side... Sanjay sir's Khamboji is to the other. It was simply grand ...!! It was very rich and was very very pleasing rendition. The master piece krithi of dikshitar was sung as the main item.. The neraval "vAsavAdhi sakala". But the swarakalpana was done at various places like once it was at "vAsavAdhi.." the otehr time it was at "sakala.." another was at "bhusura.."
And violin support was equally scintillating...!!! When it comes to thaniavarthanam.. guess that was the best thaniavrthanam i ever heard.. both the musicians were like as if something went through them... they were just playing fantabulously... !! :D :D well i had to use some word to describe them.. but still i have no words to talk about thaniavarthanam...
The post main item was a delination of madhuvanthi... i expected an RTP in that raga..but i was slightly dissappointed as there was no RTP... but still the surdas bhajan was amazing one....!! He sang it fpr nearly 10 mins including all the improvisations....He sang a virutham followed by evergreen eppo varuvaro.. and the current rocking number tunbam nergayil....and then he sang a song in komalangi.. the concert ended pretty quickly and a number of sad moans from the audience reflected the that they wanted the concert to last for a little longer.. however it was a great feast...!! Sanjay sir is an unmatched genious... his music is just amazing..!! :)
