It was a very good concert. Kum. Amrita did a very job in giving a fantastic concert. All the songs were rendered with a lot of gait and the manOdarmam was outstanding.
The AlApanai of pantuvarALi was quite elaborate and was a fitting prelude for the majestic Dikshitar piece. The neraval & svarams at the madhyama kAlam of the anupallavi were done in a very elegant fashion and was very moving. Earlier the neraval & svarams for the harikAmbhOji piece, at 'sEshuDu sivuniki' was very good and filled with rAga bhAvam too. The main course bhairavi was truly classical. It was very enjoyable and Kum. Amrita carefully incorporated all the bench-mark phrases of the grand ragam and built it up in a very matured fashion eventually culminating in the Shyama Sastri masterpiece. The kriti renditions of the nATTaikuranji and bhAgEsrI pieces need a special mention for the azhuttam with which they were rendered and the emotions they created.
In Sri L Ramakrishnan was a perfect accompanist on the fiddle. His accompanying the songs was perfect and his replies to manodarmam parts were totally matching. The mridangist, Sri Sivakumar was extraordinary. He played with amazing anticipation and accompanied all the songs with great care and it was in tandem through out the concert including the played a crisp tani that he played.

Thanks, rbharath, for the review. Nicely written!
I really wanted to attend this concert but I couldn't. I've been wanting to go to Ms.Amrita's concerts since last December. But, I never had an opportunity to attend her concerts! Happy to see a fellow forumite attending and reviewing concerts in Karpaga Vinayakar temple. Keep it up!

Very nice concert, full of sowkhyam. I was very late, and midway into the kAsirAmakriya kriti. nATTaikurinji kriti was sung with lot of restrained bhAvam, and very moving. I fell in love with the song. Bhairavi was also very good.
I felt at times that a little less restrain and some "laziness" would have been good for the bhairavi, but then it must be very difficult to do that and still not lose control.
The weighty bAgEshri song was sung to its weight. Some of these Hindustani ragas do offer good choice for tukkaDas.
Btw rbharath, it's bAgEshri.
All songs were given very appropriate tempos, which were stuck to.
I personally prefer concerts where main isn't given unduly long time, and this concert had such a format too, since the kAshirAmakriya and harikambhoji were sung elaborately too. vazhi maRaittirukkudE was also sung in a leisurely pace. Another concert of hers I attended in Venus Colony had a similar format.

Yes I was hoping someone else would post a review of this concert since I myself was in and out. I heard the submain and main; both were outstanding. The flow of pantuvarali swarams were reminiscent of SSI. And the bhairavi was revealed in all majesty too.
Amrita Murali is a vocalist to watch.

It is very rare to see artists like AM who are capable of riding on 2 horses successfully.
I heard her last in Bharat Sangeet Utsav where she sang a beautiful Thodi (Koluvamaregata) before that I think I heard her in Vidwat Samajam where Carnatica conducted akhandam for 3 days.I could go only one day that too for few hours where I heard AM.She sang Marubalka to my delight preceding with an alapana of Sriranjani.
She excels in Violin too and I last heard her accompanying Vijay Siva in Srinagar Colony,Saidapet Pillaiyar Kovil.
I really missed the concert in review.
A promising artist with a friendly attitude .

I went to her Season concert in the Music Academy last year and I was amazed at her talents! I was really surprised that she was still in the 12 P.M. slot! Her singing was truly much better than some of the singers in the evening slots. She is one of my favorite performers, topping the list. She has such exemplary skills that she really deserves to be in the evening slot.

Arasi, yes. Her MA concert was good. I attended, she sang Shankaracharyam as main. I have heard her accompanying T.M.Krishna too in recent past. Would love to hear her solo violin concert..
