Mrs Seetha Rajan presented an excellent concert portraying the very coveted chaste Semmangudi patanthra. From the beginning till the end she was in great form.
Being a Syanaotsavam concert, it lasted for around 1:45 hrs.
The song list is as follows:
Jaya Jaya ramanatha (Nattai) Narayana Theertha K Chapu
Mayanai Mannu (Sri) Andal Adi
Seshachala Nayakam (Varali) M.D Rupakam
Sri Venkatagirisham (Suruti) M.D Adi
Baraiyya (Vsantha) P Dasar M Chapu
Bala Gopala (Bhairavi) M.D Adi
Hamsanandi Vritham : I guess it was a Dasar song.. I left after that and hence request someone else to complete the list.
On the whole it was an enjoyable concert. Voice was very pliable, unaffected by age.
Her list looks appealing. Difficult ragams, variety of thalams and the song selection is based on the main deity @ the temple.
Spl mention about Bhairavi: A lot of jarus and gammakkams devoid of ravais and brighas (very authentic).
I liked here keezh kalam swaram singing (@ Neela Neerada Shareera) and kuraippus which had a lot of patterns.. was very much reminded of MLV Amma.

I've been a long-standing fan of Seetha mami's though there was a big break in my listening to her concerts while living in the States. Heard her last year at the SSI centenary celebs. and the music was as satisfying as ever. She has a great passion for music.

She's relatively young, AFAIK just over 60. In the tradition of her guru she should have a few decades of concerts ahead of herVoice was very pliable, unaffected by age.
