Lalit and Subhapantuvarali sruthibhedam

This is apropos the Natakurinji - ritigoulai sruthi bhedam in one of the other threads, but in the quiet of raga discussions! The Hindustani Lalit (or Lalat) translates to Subhapantuvarali (or Mian ki todi, I guess), from the suddha madhyamam onwards. For me, this fixation or whatever it is, is a remarkable one, because when Lalit starts, it is magical, with the two madhyamams, which is quite rare in CM. But comes a point where the tanpura's madhyam (apropos yet another thread), takes over and then it is just subha pantuvarali. Nice, but not magical. After that point, no matter what I do, I can't relate to the two madhyam lalit, except in a technical way, i.e. no magic!
