Na Mein Dharmi Na Hi Adharmi
Kabir das
Na Mein Dharmi Na Hi Adharmi
Na Mein Jati Na Kaami Ho
Na Mein Kehta Na Mein Sunta
Na Mein Sevak Swami Ho
Na Mein Bandha Na Mein Mukta
Na Mein Virat Na Rangi Ho
Na Mein Kahu Se Nyara Hua
Na Kahu Ke Sangi Ho
Na Hum Narak Lok Ko Jaate
Na Hum Swarag Sidhare Ho
Sab Hi Karam Hamara Kiya
Hum Karman Se Nyare Ho
Ya Mat Ko Koi Birla Bujhe
So Atal Ho Baitha Ho
Mat Kabir Kaho Ko Thape
Mat Kahu Ko Mete Ho "
Translation:
Righteous nor Non-righteous
Neither am I Righteous nor Non-Righteous
Neither am I an Ascetic nor a Sensualist
Neither Do I Speak nor Do I Listen
Neither Am I a Servant nor a Master
Neither Am I Constrained nor Liberated
Neither Am I Sad nor Jubilant
Neither Am I Distinctly Isolated from Anything
Nor Am I Identified Completely with Anything
Neither Do I go to the World of Hell
Nor Do I Proceed to the World of Heaven
All Actions are Really My Actions
But Yet I am Distinct From the Actions
This Truth Only A Rare Exceptional One Realizes
Such A Person Sits in Quiescence
Oh Kabir Don't Bring Forth Any Creation
And Don't Efface Anything Either

Kabir - Translation by Tagore
tor hira hirailwa kicad men
"THE JEWEL is lost in the mud, and all are seeking for it;
Some look for it in the east and some in the west; some in the water and some amongst stones.
But the servant Kabir has appraised it at its true value, and has wrapped it with care in the end of the mantle of his heart."

Dear Sri V, What an inspiration YOU ARE! PL continue to enlighten us with with not just Kabirdas but ANYONE YOU deem worthwhile. I will take a course with you if you teach or offer one. Iam also particularly interested to know the ones along these lines M.S.S. has rendered. I have been FOOLISH- Saying so because of my level of ignorance-to discuss such profound devotional songs with her & realise what a great SOUL she was in being patient & trying to explain things! VKV

For some reason, this topic took me to Sahirji's immortal lyrics, given voice by Mohd Rafi Sa'ab....'tu hindu banEga na musalmAn banEgA'

Kabira seep samunder ki, khara jal nahi le
Paani piye swati ka, shobha sagar de
A shell in the ocean does not take any salty water from the ocean.
It drinks the raindrops falling during the period of Swati Constellation and adds to the beauty of the ocean …

Re: Na Mein Dharmi Na Hi Adharmi
Post no..11 Shri rshankar..
That was evidently based on Guru Nanak's Sri Guru Granth Sahib ..
Morning Thoughts....
Some call Him, 'Raam, Raam', and some call Him, 'Khudaa-i'.
Some serve Him as 'Gusain', others as 'Allaah'.
He is the Cause of causes, the Generous Lord.
He showers His Grace and Mercy upon us.
Some bathe at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, and some make the pilgrimage to Mecca.
Some perform devotional worship services, and some bow their heads in prayer.
Some read the Vedas, and some the Koran.
Some wear blue robes and some wear white.
Some call themselves Muslim, and some call themselves Hindu.
Some yearn for paradise and others long for heaven.
-Says Guru Nanak, one who realizes the Hukam (order) of God's Will,
knows the secrets of his Lord and Master.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Page # 885 of 1430.
There is a Punjabi Gurbani..

Kahet Kabir Suno Bhai Sadho Mein To Hun Viswas Mein -...
O servant, where dost thou seek Me?
Lo! I am beside thee.
I am neither in temple nor in mosque:
I am neither in Kaaba nor in Kailash:
Neither am I in rites and ceremonies,
nor in Yoga and renunciation.
If thou art a true seeker, thou shalt at
once see Me: thou shalt meet Me
in a moment of time.
Kabir says, "O Sadhu! God is the
breath of all breath."

Re: Na Mein Dharmi Na Hi Adharmi
Bura Jo Dekhan Main Chala, Bura Naa Milya Koye
Jo Munn Khoja Apnaa, To Mujhse Bura Naa Koye]
Translation
I searched for the crooked, met not a single one
When searched myself, "I" found the crooked one
Kabir says that instead of finding fault and maligning others, dive deep into your own-self. Amazingly, an honest introspection will reveal that all fault lies with "me" and "my" own perceptions and attitudes. If there is any evil or crookedness, it is in "me". Correcting this and opting for a loving and compassionate attitude will change one's perceptions and the world will appear wonderful all over..
