Smt. B Sankari , a talented student of Vidwan A Sundaresan, last gave a public concert sometime in 2002. Marriage and family responsibilities seem to have kept her out of the music circuit since then... But the passion for music and the desire to perform seem to have prevailed and brought her back..
Naada Inbam, true to its tradition of fostering talent , chose her to present a music concert. to commemorate the birthday of her Guru A Sundaresan..

Sankari gave an absorbing concert built around Chete Buddhi (Atana), Bhuvini Dasuda (Sri Ranjani), Birana Brovayudhe (Kalyani) . The main piece was Kaddanu Variki (Thodi). with neraval and swaras at Athambu Sekkillache. What was noteworthy was the sureness of touch and the great confidence exuded by her in her presentation.. The ragas were developed in an orderly and authoritative manner reminiscent of her Guru.. The Kalyani Raga elaboration was exceptionally brilliant. The sallies in the upper reaches .were vigorous without losing sweetness. Kriti renditions were compact and the Swaras measured.
A commendable performance considering the long break. Surely an artiste of whom we will hear more.

Kum Nandini, a vocalist herself, gave skilled support on the violin. Here solo elaborations of the ragas were neat and succinct.
V Srinivasan on the mridangam , with his soft and subdued strokes kept the laya and supported the music without much ado..

Thank you, Jagan. I gather she is a vocalist worth listening to, from what you say of her.

She definitely is. Vid. Sundaresan was proud of this disciple also.
Only thing is that she should get opportunities to perform.

Sankari had had the good fortune of learning music first from Vidwan M A Venugopal and later from Vidwan A Sundaresan.
