I was listening to a concert by the late vidwan Sri MS Gopalakrishnan today, where he performed Saint Thyagaraja's Thera Theeyaga Radha.
I have only heard ragam Gowlipanthu presented with prathi madhyamam, but Sri MSG clearly plays it with suddha madhyamam.
Does anyone know why this is so? The use of suddha madhyamam struck me as quite odd, but perhaps that is simply because I am not used to it. I am curious to hear what the respected rasikas here have to say
