I wanted to listen to Raji Gopalakrishnan from the beginning but unfortunately I reached late. Her soothing Kanada ragam was soul stirring. It was followed by Kanthimathi annai (I think it is a composition of Papanasam Sivan) Is'nt it? If Kanada was soothing, Neevaadane gaana in Saranga was exhilarating. The main ragam Mohanan was very well rendered for which the Kriti was Nanu Palimpa and the kalpanaswaram was great. Her bhajan in Aamir Kalyani stirred my heart. She deserves to be in the limelight much more than she is right now.
Did anyone listen from the beginning? Kindly keep me posted.

I fully agree with you there. Her music is very chaste and she has a weighty and emotive voice.

By any chance did she sing our shri rAmarAj compositions??

Warm welcom SMV , I think u are upcoming artist SM VilAsini. Best wishes for your season, assuming you are stationed in madras , unfortuanately your guru is now in US (that is what I have heard from gobilalitha), IIRC Smt rAji was stationed in dubai few decades before and now in US . She must have filled the gap between arunA sAyeeram and gAyathris , just location location location how important is that?

Raji Gopalakrishnan sings from the heart. A big plus. She has a definite yen for aesthetics. An even bigger plus. And she does not play to the gallery. Possibly the biggest plus
This is how Smt. Lalitaa Krishnan opens her review of Smt. Raji Gopalakrishnan's concert in today's edition of the Hindu, echoing the sentiments of many of the posters here.

Rajesh,
Had I the time that day when I met you for those few moments, I would have asked you about Ramaraj. How is he doing nowadays? Is it possible to meet him?

Vilasini,
Welcome to Rasikas. Did we meet after your guru's concert at NGS last year, Ramaraj introducing us? I have heard your guru a few times and Rajesh is right. Does she live in the US now?

I have the same question? If any of you meet him during the season pl convey my regards. I do not want to encroach on his recovery phase. But wish to see him at the Forum when he is OK.

Pl get the news on him!

The first sentence is very heartening. If she travels for few months to US and canada , hope the NRI rasikAs there grab the oppurtunity to listen to this musician.

Vilasini,
Thank you for filling us in about Ramaraj. Is it possible to talk to him on the phone at least? You may send me an E-mail through the forum or post it here if it all right with him.
