This two hour concert was simply outstanding. At the end I was longing for more. That said, Suryaprakas masterfully packaged manodharma into a large number of kritis.
The evening started off with Saraswati Namostuthe
This was followed by an excellent version of Marugelara with several unusual sangathis.
An elaborate nattakurinji alapana was followed by a kriti whose Pallavi escapes me right now.
He then sang an abridged but very touching version of Abhaya Varade Sarade, stAarting at the Anupallavi. it was particularly fitting since the concert was at Tathvaloka.
He also sang Nalinakanti (Manavyala) again some of the sangathis were breathtaking.
The two highlights of the evening followed. The first was Meenakshi Memudham dehi sung with alapanai, neraval swaram as well as thani by Srimushnam Rajarao and EM Subramaniam.
This was followed by a very catchy RTP in Mian-ki-Malhar. This was simply superb.
In all this was a very enjoyable concert. Suryaprakash gives the impression of someone who greatly values creativity and this aspect came through adequately in the concert at Carnatica.

I was also at the concert. I think we should have the Rasikas badge so that we can recognise and talk.
Kamalamb- One thingis missingin your review- The Concert started alomost 30 minutes late due to late arrival of Ghatam artist.
Yes M A Sundaresan was extremely good.
I enjoyed the Thani of Srimushnam Raja Rao and ofcourse the Natakurunji of Surya prakash.

These questions always remind me of 'dAnam kuDutta mAttin pallai piDingi pArkiradu' (looking a gift horse in the mouth) - members review the concerts they attend...and the choices of artists they make is a personal one. It is possible that someone who attended Sri TVS' concert will review it on this forum. Then again, that may not happen. In either case, I think we should just enjoy the reviews posted here (I can tell you how very tough it is to write reviews such as the ones posted by bilahari - my hats off to him - disregarding jet lag, he takes the trouble to write phenomenal reviews of the concerts he attends, and he is representative of all the reviewers), and not bemoan the fact that a particular artist has not been reviewed.ganeshkant wrote:Hi folks,
Why there are no reviews of SP's guru TVS in this forum?
