TNS sang Raga malika RTp in Purvikalyani Rakesree sree.
It was wonderful amazing, He is the artist who is capable of singing even small , uncommon ragas like Kalyani and Thodi.
What a Raga alapana, Thanam and Kalpanaswarams for Purvikalyani Rakesree and sri
THe concert was Breathtaking on the whole.
Enthusiastic audience gave standing ovation after the concert.

The hall has poor sound quality..I dont know why the sound engineer,or whoever it may be ,kept the volume very low. .
Though it was audible,but it was not giving that punch to the ears.

ya Bilahari,haha... I think a few were sitting around.. I dont know the names,better leave it to experts.. there was even someone accompanying him in singing...TNS's son? he was wonderful..

Await my review of the concert in sulekhs blog shortly. What the member meant was tht TNS could sing even small ragas like he sings kalyani etc. not other way round. The whole concert was dazzling. I have to ruminate and get into the right mood to do full justice to the wonder that was yesterday.

Thanks smt. Saroja Ramanujam yes I only meant that way, TNS mama delineated Rakesree like any common raga , I was astonished, the audience were spell bound. As somebody has emntioned the sound quality was very poor and the organisers have to do something about that.

The accompanists were MChandrsekharan, on the violin, B.Harikumar on mridhangam and N>Govindarajan on ghatam.Of course cameo might not have known the names of the last two but surely he knows the sangeethakalnidhi MC at least!

It was Madurai TNSKrishna , his son. He gives concerts on his own and I have written reviews on his concerts also.

I gave only information not reviews in this forum and the personal remarks made by saravnan shows very bad taste which was one of the reason I moved out of the forum . After seeing some sensible and unprejudiced reviews I made a come back. Perhaps it was unwise on part to have done so. I maynot interfere with the nonsensical ourtpourings of some in future. serpent even if it winds around a sandal tree should be avoided. Goodbye sandal trees.

I agree Saroja madam - better to let such jokers be. Anyway, I was there at the concert too and I agree with cameo about the acoustics of the hall - the hall is really a disgrace to carnatic music. I was sitting on the left and there was a constant chatter from the kitchen and vessels being tossed about. Sad to see such a prestigious academy paying such scant respect to its patrons and the artistes.

The 2nd raga in the first post was the Hindustani raga, Rageshree. TNS was in great form and TNS Krishna sang a brilliant Thodi. It is heartening to see how this youngster has matured. There is so much balance and proportion in his music - I can't believe it is the same person who seemed to be all over the place just a few years back!

A real pity about the hall though - TNS' MFAC concerts used to be one of the season highlights for me. I don't think I will be attending any more concerts at that venue (meals, of course, are a different matter!)

Was a concert that extended for nearly 4 hours, 15 minutes. It began right on time at 6 PM and went on upto 10:15 PM. The first two heavy pieces themselves took nearly an hour and fifteen minutes to complete. The Shanmukhapriya piece stood out for two things. At the line nannu brOvakayunduta nyayamaa, the Sangathis he used were exemplary - haven't seen anyone sing so many Sangathis there. And the other thing was the innumerable patterns he brought out in the one-Avarthanam first Kalam Swarams. The Yadukulakambhoji piece was sung very leisurely. I would have preferred if TNS himself sang the Thodi Alapanai. The Krithi in Misra Jhumpa was rendered very well. The Swarams were so creative in Kanakku aspects in the first Kalam that it had MC remarking that it reminded him of Althur Brothers singing this Krithi. The Thani was good as well. The Pallavi was quite imaginative and the way he switched Ragams in Tanam and the Swarams were nice. The Trikalam was done neatly. The Huseni Thillana was very beautiful and soothing.

A sizeable number of people stayed till the end. Overall a marathon concert and one to remember for sometime to come.

some member has already mentioned that TNS and thodi are synonymouss, Even i felt that TNS could have sung Thodi alapana by himself, every time he sings thodi he gives a new dimension with all traditional and conventional prayogas. Usually he makes his son to take over an alapana at a certain point but in this concert the entire thodi alapana was rendered by his son.

Huseni Tillana is a composition of TNS himself. Have listened to it many times before, but this rendering was totally different and replete with Bhava. Again, a fine concert by the Maestro.
