Sorry for posting such a brief review of what must have been a wonderful concert.. What a clarity in rendering and such sruthi suddham for the master even in such age. I entered the hall only around 8.15 (thanks to office) when a wonderful reethigowla alapana was dancing into my ears. That was one of the finest renditions of the raga i have ever heard and the first reethigowla for me this season.
The Subbaraya Sastri materpiece "janani ninnu vina" followed and it was rendered with utmost poise and what an azhutham in his rendering.. It was followed by a crisp round of kalpana svaras and a blistering thani avarthanam though i felt as always mike volume was a bit loud for the percussion department.. Karthick matched very well the challenges thrown at him by sankaran sir and they played an absorbing thisra nadai and a sankeerna koraippu...
