Venue : Parthasarathy Swami Sabha
Date : 22.12.08

1.Varnam-Vasanta-Adi
2.Makelara-Ravichandrika-Adi S
3.Chandram Bhaja Manasa-Asaveri
4.?-Yadukulakambodi R
5.Narayana-Sudha Danyasi-K.Chapu
6.R T P-Hamirkalyani-Khanda Jathi Triputa talam
7.Parama Pavana-Sumanesa Ranjani-Adi

A brisk and a neat presentation !!

Ganesh rendered a very pleasing Yadukula kambodi...

Shashikiran's Hamir Kalyani was simply out of the World...His Briga sancharas as well as slow paced phrases seemed to flow effortlessly...Even though Hamir Kalyani has its roots in the North Shashikiran made it sound absolutely classical...Kudos to Him...The Ragamalika Thanam followed by the Pallavi on Lord Parthasarathy was interesting !!

The brothers closed the concert with a Sumanesa Ranjani Kriti !!

A wonderful concert on the whole !!

Hi latha,

I thought Parama Pavana was Madhukauns. If it is SR it could be a composition of Rukminiramani.

Ganesh's YK was good but SK's HK was over stretched and lacked melody.

Narayana in SD was presented neatly.

Over all the concert was dull didn't make any mark.Violin by PSRM was inconsistent and the bowing was screetchy

Latha.musiclover !! Please include the names of accompanists as best you know when reviewing a concert since they significantly affect the outcome of a concert !! A gentle request.

Bilahari, ll include pakka vadyams' names....hence forth !! Sorry about that !!

Parama pavana is certainly not Rukmini Ramani's work..... The one that she composed in this ragam is "Paarthasarathy Tiruvellikeniyil naan Paartha Saarathy"

Ganeshkant,

Well.... SK's Hamir Kalyani was surely not over stretched...I think for a concert which has the Main Item as the RTP .... a NINE MINUTE Ragam is certainly required and SK has to be appreciated for the fact that he handled the ragam so well that he avoided repeating the phrases....and made it sound melodious and pleasant...

There was no element in the concert which could make the presentation sound dull...The duo maintained good pace and struck the Right Kaalapramaanams for all the pieces that they presented !!

The Choice of Ragams too brightened the mood..... since they were in contrast with one another...

I thought the concert sounded very well....and the duo deserved lot more appreciation !!
