Sankari's Yadhukulakambodi ragam was a soothing experience. It was followed by a thevAram, "thondar anjum kalirum....". The main was "koluvamaragata......" in Thodi. Her rAgam rendition was exhilarating. The kalpanaswara with kanakku and kuraippu was enjoyable. Her Kalyani RTP in kandajampa in kandanadai displayed her vidwat. Listening to the concert was a rewarding experience

True excellent thodi. But I felt she should have announced that the Yadukulakambodi piece was a thevaram. It was really enjoyable but I didnt know it was a thevaram. Hope people like Rajagopal who wanted Tamil songs to be sung by artists listened to her excellent concert. She began with shanmugapriya varnam of Lalgudi. This was followed by Adikondar...... by Muthu Thandavar. Towards the end of the concert, she rendered the short piece Pittam Theliya..... by Gopalakrishna Bharati which was a moving piece.

I agree. She has a wide repertoire of Tami songs and i would like to add that i have been playing for quite a number of years for her and she has vidwat, weighty classicism and good grip over laya.

From the Lalgudi school, there should be no doubt about her pedigree of vidwat. She has been around for sometime and anyone yearning for pure classical stuff must attend her concerts. Bye Ragjay

Both Mridhangam and Ragjay are right. I came to know that she performs very well with Bhavam from one of my friends in the USA who listened to her concert at New York a few months back. I listened to her concert at the Hamsadhwani in September. What a sublime concert. It is a mystery why she is yet to reach the top despite having all that it required to be in the Carnatic circuit. If I may add, her rendition that day was dipped in Bhava, an aspect that should attract serious music loving crowds. I wonder whether lot of rasikas in this forum would have heard her this season. I was out of town for a while and I missed her schedule this time. If it is that many have not heard her, well here is an artiste who can give enlightening and tradition- ladden concerts. are we missing something? There are so many knowledgeable rasikas in this wonderful forum who may enjoy her concerts.

Sad that rasikas flock to popular artists with huge expectations and later complain that the concerts were not up to their expectations. We have two threads about two popular artists not fulfulling expectations. I would suggest that the rasikas should be discerning enough to go to listen to any competent artist without expectations and enjoy the wholesome concert. Why not give a try perhaps next season. Let us leave the popular artists to do what they want. Let rasikas go to other artists who may cater to their taste. I for one have started it this year and surprising Sankari Krishnan's rendition catered to my view of what enjoyment in true classical style meant. Opinions may differ. But my search for more deserving artists who are yet to be recognised or ignored by many rasikas has started bearing fruit. I intend to further explore more and listen to more such deserving artists.
