The concert was a thematic one (of Tamil songs) as Smt. Neela announced. It was comprised entirely of tamil songs and except for very few I found most of the krithis to be rare ones. It was such a learning experience both for the songs presented and the pure classicism in the music. The hall was filled with many "sabhash"es and "besh"es from the audience for the scholarly music. The ragas were developed with intricately woven sangathis. I especially liked the virutham and innamum oru thalam which together lasted for well over 20 minutes. There was also sruthi bedham done towards the end of shanmukhapriya.

Sriram Kumar provided very good violin support. Poongulam Subramanian and the ghatam accompanist played very well. The tani was short and nice.

Overall a fantastic concert of scholarly music. I'm glad I got a chance to go to this concert.

A concert to remember. Pride filled my heart as I heard this senior's concert from the beginning to the end. While I agree that it was a highly classical concert, NG's imagination and her sweet sounding voice (at this age) were a bonus. An all tamizh songs concert and listening to not-so-often heard krutis added to my listening pleasure...

It was Great Music all the way. The selection and masterly presentation of these rarely heard Tamil songs , speaks volumes of the dedication of this eminent Vidushi.
