Sanjay’s breezy start with the BegadA varnam, in vilamba and durita kaalams was followed by an energetic AnumAne.
HusEni alApanA in the mandhava sthaiyi was passionate and intensely moving with delicate sketches and picturized graciousness depicting the raga in all its beauty invoking the raga bhavam followed by Enna punniyam conceptualizing the underlined beauty of the sahithyam’s sublimity.

He breathed life into shankarAbharanam with majestic grace and singular gamaka nuances with measured silences between sancharas. The alapana had an organic evolution through upper and lower sancharas with splendid karvais. The neraval at nannu rakshimpa norula gAna brimmed with poetic intensity followed by a brilliant swaraprasthara.
Innamum thAmadamEn swAmy in devamanOhari was rendered with pedantic overtones.

The unfolding of the evening melody poorvi kalyani raaga alapana took off gallantly missing no curve or contour. Parama pAvanA was dainty with its lively Chittaswaram and melodically pleasing kalpanaswara sequences, meticulous in laya with verve and vigor that had the listeners tapping to its trills.

SAramathi was the tour de force of the evening. He built up the edifice of SAramathi for the RTP without ambiguity, projecting the compound nuances of the melody with clarity bearing the unmistakable stamp of my fav master of yesteryears. His interpretation of this rare raga reverberated with resonance in his thAnam. The appeal of the poetic diction of the pallavi text "kandhanai vandhanai sei manamE thanthayAi thAyAi vandharulum"

Saramathi! I feel like abandoning my meticulously prepared concert schedule and just attending all of Sanjay's concerts. Lucky you, kedharam! And thanks for the report.

There is a Sanjay clipping on You Tube of this song, which he had sung as a part of the MMU - Jaya TV duing the year 2007.
