TVR started off with a speech! He spoke about GNB centenary, about GNB etc for about 5 minutes. He recalled GNB's concert in 60's in bangalore town hall with Chowdaiah and PMI in mridangam on Jan 26th, and at end of concert chowdaiah requesting GNB to sing national anthem.
The concert started in good tempo, with few songs in madhyama kala. swaras for abhogi varna was brisk so was nattai swaras. M.A.sundareshwaran's replies were very good, partly during his returns, he played swaras from pancharatnam. kuraippu swaras were around panchamam and koravai was like m- r- s- n- p; m r- s n- p; m r s n p; r s n p m; s n p m r (3 times - similar structure).
after deepakam song, hamsanandhi ragam was taken up. Alapana was good, and TVR did shruti bedam resulting in mohanam and hindolam (brief though, with 'da' and 'ri' as base swaras). He paused in between and said GNB excelled in shruti bedam and introduced this in 1940s as experiment and did shruti bedam in different swaras. M.A.Sundareshwaran's reply was equally good, but didn't venture into sruti bedam. MAS's reply during neraval was very good. Kuraipu swaras were around tara stayi shadjam. During last avarthanam in swara kalapana, TVR tried mel kala swaras, some how it didn't come out quite well, but MAS's return was very good.
kalyani was main, it was brief and alapana could have been more detailed. The sancharams were good with nice brigas and was typical GNB style. Neraval was also brief, with about 2 avarthanas in mel kalam. kuraippu swaras were around tara shadjam with sangathis like SnpdnS.., m-pdnS... Swara korvai was like GRSnS-- RSndn-- Sndpd-- GRSnd RSndp ndpmp- (3 times in different swara combination). Tani avarthanam was enjoyable, both KVPrasad and Amrit played well with some nice patterns.
New president of Gayana samaja spoke for about 10 minutes! During his speech, he said, all 3 artists were good, soon MAS prompted him that 4 artists.. Mr President corrected himself and said, all 6 artists performed well including tanpura artists..(;- There was ample time for RTP!!!! but TVR sang GNB's popular songs to end the concert.
It was enjoyable concert overall, hall was about half full.

Dr M.R.V.Prasad it seems... He was their ex-vice president. It is okay to mess up (!?) and make a correction, but what is the need to say tambura artist (vidhwans?) also performed well?
