A review of YAmini

YAmini is the annual event hotsed at IIMB organized by SPICMACAY. It is a dusk to dawn musical night starting on 25th January night and goes on till the early hours of 26th. This years Yaamini had performances by Ranjini-Gayatri, Mysore Manjunath and Nagaraj, Urmila Satyanarayan and Ronu Muzumdar. Great review - and dedication to stay for so long!! You got to hear/see a wide variety of artists...

The pallavi for the R&G concert should probably be 'kaNNA vA maNi vaNNA vA kamala padam vaittu viraindODi vA'.

Smt. Urmila Satyanarayanan must have been a treat - she has one of the best 'araimanDIs' in the business, is technically superb, and she is very good in her abhinaya (kaccidam - just right - no excess!).

Keep them coming.

Myself and Pramod reached there during the RTP by Ranjani&Gayathri and stayed for Mysore Nagaraj & Manjunath's concert. While I cant comment on the R&G concert ( I did not like their version of Krishna nee begane baro) as we did not listen to the entire concert , Mysore brothers were outstanding. The initial Hindolam ( samaja varagamana) had some interesting violin and mrudangam play between Manjunath and Neyveli Venkatesh. Here is the list for those interested.

Thanks for the review.

I wanted to listen to R&G but I had my doubts about what time is the concert.
I didnot want to stay back late since I travel by bus and I was not sure when will R&G perform.
I thought they might be put in to 530pm slot as the usual CM concerts starts at that time.
Anyway what time slot they performed?

I have heard them sing pantuvarali on an earlier occassion and it is very good. And
Kapi RTP and Mukari ... all my favorites. I really miss these items.

Anyone planning to go for Vasanth habba (it happens in Feb I guess ) at Protima Bedi's
Nrithyagram at hesarghatta.

It was supposed to start at 530 but started around 630 and went on till around 845.
