An outstanding concert by Sri Vijay Siva. I was late and entered only during swars for dinamani vamsa. Pantuvarali alapna was soothing and swara exchange between Vijay Siva and RKS was a treat. After short and sweet dhanyasi alapana and the DKJ special meenalochana,, and a quick sarievvere, came the highlight of the day. An out of the world shankarabaranam. The song was wonderfully rendered with nereval and swaras. IMO , RKS can safely be called the Lalgudi of our generation, so soothing was his playing. P.Satish kumar was at his best and the understanding and anticipation with which he played was brilliant. Never once was he wrong footed and the tani was sparkling.
In the tukkadas after a moving sharadabhujangam and dasar padam in sindubhairavai, VS sang a tiltating unjal song in ragamalika. (kurinji, manirangu, nadanamkriya , but I am not very sure ) . A melodious song with lovely lyrics. Searching for details/lyrics , I finally landed back on our site

A concert to cherish for a long time

rajumds,
An expresssive pantuvarAli (R N S) as a submain , with a sedate shankarAbharanam (R N S T)as a main ,with an intermediate and perennial super plus dhanyAsi sandwiched must have taken you step by step to a kind of meditative mood that vijayashiva is generally capable of , lucky you being a resident of nanganallur .

Yes, Patri played for Vijay Siva a few times before. I heard them together at MA in December 2005 (with Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi on violin). It was an amazing kutcheri. Patri has a very nice way of accompanying sahityam.vijay wrote:I am noticing Vijay Siva with Patri for the first time. Have they performed together before? it is good to see the artiste play for Vijay Siva, Sanjay etc.
