Hearthy congrats to Aruna Sairam for this award.
Her contributions in a short period to CM and bring few excellent abhang to CM arena are worth mentioning at this point.
Her rise is like phoenix, people and laymen to CM liked her rendition and it was true bhakti based CM.
Having seen her in the past very few years, Long live AS and thanks to her contributions.
I was once mesmerised by her tukkada section of season 2001 album.
And many of my relative , not knowing CM , appreciate her for that.
Ashwin,
Pt Hrdayanath .... I heard his mind blowing music and songs in Lekin. Can you highlight his other
contributions in cinemusic as well if any in HM etc.

What I know of Pt. Hrdaynath is second-hand information from people elder to me who experienced his music in the era in which it was composed and presented - I'll leave it to them, since only they can do true justice in describing the value of his contributions! I, too, was drawn to his music after seeing Lekin - each and every song is fantastic, probably because each is based on some HM composition or another. Balu Uncle, is gujri tODi the HM equivalent of CM's ShubhALi? I also became obsessed with bilAskhAni tODi after listening to jhUTE naina bhOlE...is there any equivalent in CM? I personally think that CM artists could do wonders with this rAgam.

Aswin, can you post any song in raag shubawli? bilashkani todi is beautifully covered by RAJAN PARIKAR in sawf. pl hear the renditionsof Malini rajurkar(speed of a superfast train)and JitendraAbisheki. You must have heard Bombay Jayashree 's rendition of 'KANDENA UDUPIYA KRISHNA ' in a cd . best wishes .. balu uncle gobilalitha

Ashwin, IIRC, you had sung Shubaali (after main) in your concert with Ram. I was mentioning to BHarath that this sounded like Gujjari Thodi. Gujjari Thodi is Shubha Pantuvarali without Panchamam. However in case of Shubhali I noticed a lot of phrases ending on the dhaivatham. I am not sure this is the case in G-Todi.
Regd Bilaskhani Todi, swara-wise it corresponds to our Thodi. But they are completely different ragas. It also has elements of Bhupalam in the ascent So a CM artiste singing the raga (B Todi) would be on a very slippery slope! You can get an excellent rendering by Amir Khan from www.sarangi.info
More on both G and B - Todi can be found at Parrikar's site as mentioned above:
