I will try the first line of the caraNam.
iDuvAr (those who serve the food--hosts) ; If you are related and are close to the family, you wouldn't complain that you were not seated at the very first pandi (batch) at a (wedding) feast.
enbAr (those who say)
tEDuvEn ( taLLum: give up that idea of looking for someone else).
Is it?: nilA veLiccam AgaTTum
puraLum; tUngaTTum

Kind of what I thought. Seems to have some hidden meaning, arasi wrote: iDuvAr (those who serve the food--hosts) ; If you are related and are close to the family, you wouldn't complain that you were not seated at the very first pandi (batch) at a (wedding) feast.
What are your interpretations of this? Think this is a song sung by a professional

I will give the meaning in detail. But the stage is like this. The composer assume himself to be the
Girl / lady and sung about Lord Muruga. Kind of SrinGara RaSam like Kannan PaTtu of Bharati and Songs of Oothukadu Sri Venkatasubbiyer.
In short the girl is telling Lord to wait .
In a while let the moon come fully, where I am running, otherwise people will talk ill of us.
" kaiyai viTTu viDum avadUrukkiDamAi vandu nErum vELai iduvO? :"
Leave my hand. "AvaDhuru kidam (edam) NamMai vandu Nerum"
Any other decryption is welcome !

Suresh,
You may see hidden meaning in it, but it is obvious to me, yes, if you see it in an earthy context
The pallavi gives a warning and instructions follow in the caraNam. The anupallavi takes care of an excuse of a fleeting reference to some god. Yes, the 'matter' is in the CaraNam. And Vivek is, the V in Annasamy?
Many such songs carry the terrestrial and celestial elements equally. Here is one which does not say much about murugan. What it does say can be contained in a 'calling' card!

Also the second and thrid line of the Charanam to be taken first before the first line to obtain the correct meaning. Similarly the "Kizha nelli thoongaTTum" may be the property that particular plant/tree which will be quite after Sunset. But very beautiful song similar to those of Oothukadu and Mahakavi Bhrathi. I thought only these two tamizh poets have taken so much of liberty with god.

'And Vivek is, the V in Annasamy?'
I just saw your 'vivek(pUrna)' praShn.
I am not 'Vivek' Annasamy and do not want to take any undue credit.

Looks like you agree with me, mostly! No need to be coy when we are in such intense academic discussionsarasi wrote:Suresh,

And Vivek is the tamil movie comedian - connoisseur par excellence of the Chennai lingo. Apologies to Mr. Annasamy - although Vivek is a pretty cool.

Take it in any order. Just explain with reference to context the 1st line using all the words in tact.vganesh wrote:Also the second and thrid line of the Charanam to be taken first before the first line to obtain the correct meaning.
Nice try! Can you spell "Bowdlerization"Similarly the "Kizha nelli thoongaTTum" may be the property that particular plant/tree which will be quite after Sunset.

Beautifil song alright. Hides more than it exposes. Not sure if the other 2 are in the same genre. But very beautiful song similar to those of Oothukadu and Mahakavi Bhrathi.
We are talking real liberty here! Even other gods may be involvedI thought only these two tamizh poets have taken so much of liberty with god.
