Members are invited to attend the above concert containing a special RTP in Misra Jaathi Triputa Talam (2 Kalai). She will be accompanied on the violin by Karaikkal Venkatasubramanian (Disciple of Sangita Kalanidhi Shri.T.N.Krishnan) and myself on mridangam. Concert is at Narada Gana Sabha under the auspicious of Saraswathi and it is from 6 to 7.30 followed by another Concert with a different Pallavi.
Shall give the details of the Pallavi after the concert if no one else posts as i am away from chennai for the weekend and return on monday only.

The Pallavi was set to Misra Jaathi Jampa Tala (2 Kalai) with eduppu after one beat from Samam.
The pallavi line goes like this :
Sangeetha Sahitya Kala Saagari Shankari (Arudi) Kaarvai Three Beats

The pallavi was set to Lathangi Raga.
The Raga elaboration was done very neatly for nearly 20 minutes alternating between Violin and Vocal. The Tanam was rendered thereafter.
The Pallavi itself was sung for nearly 45 minutes with Trikala, Anuloma, Pratiloma and Raga Maalika Swaras in Bhoopala, Vaasanthi and Mohana Raga Passages.
The Makuta Korvai was a nice korvai rendered by her with the following patterns :

Before the Pallavi as a warm up piece Prema Rangarajan rendered Shobillu Saptaswara with brisk swara passages in Saptaswara.
After the Pallavi she rendered a Thillana in Vasantha Raga.
Karaikkal Venkatasubramaniam played some excellent raga passages in Latangi and he also repeated the Korvai that Prema sang during his solo rendition.
I played a Tani after Pallavi.
The concert was organised by Saraswathi at Narada Gana Sabha Mini Hall with some eminent personalities present like Mr.K.S.Kalidass, Mridangist disciple of Palani M Subramania Pillai and Managing Trustee of PMSP Trust, Shri TRS, Smt.Ushalakshmi Krishnamurthy, Ms.K.Gayatri (Disciple of Smt.Suguna Purushothaman) and Smt.Sivapriya (Disciple of Smt.R.Vedavalli). Among the rasikas i could find my old friend Yessel Narasimhan and Mr.VKRV who writes here in rasikas and one Mr.Vijayakumar. Towards the Tani Avartanam as part of the next concert I could have the presence of Melakkaveri Thyagarajan and Melakkaveri Balaji who came early to participate in the next concert. Also i could have the gracious presence of KASI VISWANATHAR GURUJI of Tapovanam, Chennai who organises Pallavi concerts at his Tapovanam everymonth starting from this month onwards. One such concert was held on 15th Sunday at Tapovanam sung by Junior M.Balamuralikrishna. Look forward to the next month announcement in these columns for the next month concert and i shall give you the information as and when it is received.
