Music academy should bestow its highest honour for Shri Manakkal Rangarajan and redeem itself. He is the seniormost and most deserving artist of today. The sad list of deserving Vidwans who were not given this honour is long; MDR, TKRangachari, SKalyanaRaman, etc. to name just a few.
May I request CM lovers to express their support strongly to be heard atleast.

What is there in an award?
The mentioned artists though were not awarded Sk have not become less greater. They belong to the ALL TIME GREATS.

Right, MA should give the award to more "deserving" artists.. I heard recently that when few folks wanted to recognize shankara siva bhagavatar (TNS's guru) when he was old, he seem to have said - please honor other deserving artists and not me(;-

As maNakkaal mentioned to me sometime ago that kalaimaamaNi awards were given in consultations (seeking his recommendations) with him long before he himself was given that award, it is obvious that giving SK to him now would be an anachronism. The maestro himself will consider it infradig as did LGJ when the award was given him!
