Kalyani.Kamboji and Shankarabharanam in the same concert?

He could have chosen ragas with some contrast.

Punarvasu - delhi sundarrajan is playing for Neyveli Santhnam today, with tiruchi sankaran.
Ganesh - The concert was good in all aspects, it looks from songlist that few heavy ragas were used, also not much tala variety. Considering he performed on sivarathri occassion and sung all siva songs, it was good.

Sahana varnam was rendered unhurriedly in chowka kalam, no second kalam. I always love to hear evarani right in the beginning of the concert, it was rendered quite movingly. There were no lengthy swaras for atana, most of them single cycle ones and few in two avarthanas. Same with isa pahimam, swaras were brief, and he sang a korvai to end it. Tiruvadi charanam was great to hear, in right kalapramanam. Neraval brought out raga and sahitya bhava, second kala neraval was brief, but had good impact. Swaras were also sung in right proportion. Mukhari keerthana was sung little briskly, as he used it as a filler. But, bhavam wasn't lost.

Shankarabharanam was sung very detailed, for about 20 minutes. It had all time tested sangathis, there were few sangathis without sa/pa towards end of alapana, creating good effect. There was a huge applause after alapana, OST said, he just sang a regular shankarabharanam and didn't do anything great and it is all his gurus and parents blessings. It was 1-1/2 hours when entire rendition including tani ended. All accompanists supported very well - i am hearing Balashankar for first time. There was few walkout during tani, in general concert was well attended. I heard someone going upto mridangam artist at end of concert, and commenting that some of his strokes bought back memories of PMI and PSP, isn't this too much praise);-

I liked the neraval at Kamboji. It was great and especially the arogara..., I have heard that Sanjay's Kokale hall album.
Sankarabaranam , even the neraval was also for 20 minutes. Sunderrajan shortened his alapana for sankarabarnam.
Overall I liked the concert.
