Carnatic vocal music involving two vocalists was suggested, on another thread, for someone like me that prefers the violin to be low in prominence (or even absent).

Aha! Vocal duets make sense as one can provide relief for the other that the violin normally does. That got me thinking more and I realized I've always liked vocal duets though my listening history is currently limited to the Priya Sisters, Bombay Sisters, (and a teeny bit of the Soolamangalam Sisters!), Malladi Brothers. I've also listened to an occasional recording or two of Semmangudi+MS and Charumati+Trichur Ramachandran and liked them very much--to my ears the contrasting voices made the music more lively.

Could you recommend other pairings that were especially respected for their musicality?
Were there any that involved opposite genders (e.g., Semmangudi+MS, Charumati+Trichur Ramachandran)?
Are there performances and recordings involving more than two (respected, well regarded) vocalists?

Thx!

Refer to this thread for all types of artiste combinations:

It is titled "List out couples who are performing artistes". It was opened in "Vidwans and Vidhushis".
