Wish you were there, Vijay!
My last concert in India for now, and what a satisfying one it was, from beginning to the end!
SaravaNa bhava guhanE pranced along and kannaDA came alive in it. That nailinakAnti RTP sparkled and so did Delhi Sundararajan when he played it, and it was nice to hear him after a long spell. Sankaran was in fine form and Purushottam played as pleasingly as ever. NSG's gliding from one rAgam to the other was soothing, however complex the exercise was.
kaddanuvAriki took me back to NSG's guru's guru Sankara Sivam (almost heard him sing it) and at times, it was as if I was listening to AriyakkuDi and the tani that followed could have been that of PMI! 'Sogasu' in both of them!
A substantial concert too, and thanks to 'guru' vidyaarthi for the treat.

wonderful concert... was there in bangalore and was fortunate enough to attend that... felt that sri.nsg's voice let him down on saturday..But a sublime concert overall... the mike settings were just perfect and first time am listening to a concert in this venue.

vijay,
I wasn't there..And I would have squirmed had I been there.
I do not deny the sweetness of 'such' ragas; and agree that a clever musician by dint of his artistry can sing any raga expansively.
But, thanam in Nalinakanthi?? And in second kalam??? I suppose my idea of musical aesthetics must be a little narrow.

Vijay,
In the same hall, a paTdIp RTP was sung a few weeks ago. TNS was there at that concert and I remember reading that he sang the rAgam in one of his concerts soon after.
keerthi,
Musical aesthetics do vary, I agree.
