I recently came across a rendering of 'Girirajasuta' by Dr. BMK where he uses the sadharana gandharam in some usages. Especially in rpmrgr... Is this one school of the raga? Or is it his innovation?

It could be his innovation, but it's sometimes done by others too.

In a rendition of nArAyaNa gauLa varnam, MDR once sings "grgsrn" with sadharna gandharam too.

Why, even in paridAnamiccitE, Pdsrgpmgr "G"rsnd, with g2 for "G" is sung.

BMK always sings Bangala with Sadharana Gandharam, I believe. His school of singing perhaps.
