Vid Mysore Nagaraj & Manjunath - violin duet
Vid R Ramesh - Mrudangam
Vid Giridhar Uduppa - ghatam

Venue - Bangalore Gayana Samaja, 10th Apr 09

(i reached late, missed few initial items)
1. Tatvameruga tarama - garudadwani - rupaka - thyagaraja (swara @ tatvameruga tarama)
2. sogasuga mrudanga talamu - sri ranjani - rupaka - thyagaraja (alapana and swara @ sogasuga)
3. telialeru rama - dhenuka - adi - thyagaraja
4. ninne nammidinayya - simhendra madhyamam - misra chapu - mysore vasudevacharya (alapana, neraval & swara @ pannagendra sayana, tani)
5. mamava madhava - neelambari (short sketch)
6. sarvam brahma mayam - madhuvanti?
7. tillana? - ??
8. pavamana - sourastram (mangalam)

I thought, it was 6.30pm start, but the program was already going on. It was 6.00pm start, seems. Garudadhwani greeted me in, and swaras had some interesting combinations. Nagaraj's sri ranjani alapana was nicely done, and majunath played simhendramadhyamam alapana. Simhendra madhyamam alapana was very detailed, and done unhurriedly. Accompanists played their part well, with nice tani. Mike was giving some problem most of the time, particularly to mridangam, and artist was clearly annoyed particularly during tani. The co-ordination between brothers was awsome, particularly while playing songs and swaras.

Hari,
Thanks for the review. That unhurriedly played simhEndra madhyamam would have been a treat.
Their coordination in playing is something. They merge effortlessly after playing their individual pieces. And how well-trained they are at this!

This is a sadAshiva brahmendra . Usually it is sung in three rAgas one madhuvanti, one darbAri kAnadA and the other that I am not recollecting now.

Now I just recollected the third one , I am pretty sure it is Ahirbhairavi . So I have heard madhuvaNti, Ahirbhairavi and darbAri kAnadA. May be there is more rAga renditions for the same krithi?
