While I am getting ready for our HM concert at mantra's house, today's morning in the Hindu , I saw that there is a 4 hour sarvani sangeetha sabha concert today of saketarAman from 4pm to 8pm.Sarvani sangeetha sabha 4 hr concert is just the best in chennai. I have heard GV, gurucharan etc and they were superb , knowingly missed one in early 2002 or 2003 which was suryaprakAsh , this one is a big miss too!!!!

SaketharAman a singer with a very high shruthi sowkhyam will be challenged by kumbakOnam MR gOpinAth in the violin ,while in layam neyveli skandasubramaniam and BSP will battle together.Wish sarvani sangeetha sabha asks

karni and then schedules the 4 hr concert in the future

What I need is the 4 hr concert review with songlist and if possible with the timelines . I wish atleast one rasika who goes to this concert (all the others can come to HM concert), overcomes his/her inertia to post the songlist .I am already missing this concert.

I am with you. Four hour concerts of certain performersare really welcome. I have felt on many an occasion that those performers who are capable of it (and of course, where the rasikAs wish to hear more after the three hour mark), should go on. As you have said before, Suryaprakash gets those stifling two hour slots someimes and cannot deliver all that his kalpanA is capable of...

My last attempt to ask any rasikas to post review, yesterday I had a chance to attend a concert where kbkm gopinAth played and asked him about the concert. He could not recollect much , the main was dAcukO valenA - tODi - T and he sang RTP in three rAgas (not sure if it is a three rAga pallavi or he ended with 3 swara ragamAliga). Could only talk briefly with gOpinAth.

Actually it was a good concert.good to see a crowded hall but it was a sunday anyway.however his renditions were good.he sang dasarathi in thodi no t dacuko.it nearly took 1 1/2 hours for just thodi.withing the latter half of the concert which comprised of 40 minutes to be exact he sang a pallavi i believe in chatusra jathi ata taala something like shanmughapriyane and then sama gaana vinodhini sadanandabhairavi in all the three aforementioned raagas as well in neelambari,suddha saaranga and desh i believe.overall good concert.

only thing i could'nt stand was the over clapping by the audience for each and everything and also one mama who wanted a row of his friends to give a standing applause in the end of the concert as if it was planned was something that bothered me.apart from that the concert was good.accompanists especially gopinath and purushottaman were very good.
