I am releived that the concert didnot have abhang. Not that I donot like it. But this thread will be a cool one without antiabhang discussions.

A very good song list.

Subapantuvarali...RTP.. I have heard this from her in MA in 3 years back. I was a not a
great fan of this raga till I heard that RTP. A child sitting
in the upper gallery of MA started miming the thanam in a loud voice and got attention
from nearby crowd.

What a crowd at that time and definitely she is a crowdpuller. I couldnot get a ticket at 10am
in the morning the higher class ticket.

She sang a couple of lines of tUNilum iruppAr as a viruttam before singing the rAgamAlikA song.

Yes she is indeed a crowd puller, Here in hyderabad, rasikas are pretty lazy to come out for concerts. Though there is a good number of carnatic enthusiasts, The concert halls are generally half filled. But when Sudha Ragunathan comes, The crowd is too much. In her last concert here, People were standing and listening to her. She is indeed the pied piper who pulls the crowd :) Even Sanjay Subhramanyam is a crowd puller, People turn up for his concerts too. He is the "most wanted" in hyderabad :)

Thunderstorm that afternoon (winds at over 100KMPH) must have kept off many enthusiaists from attending the concert.

Thunderstorm and rain lashing yes - am just back from there - but that did not deter the crowd. The hall was overflowing and I admire the lady's grit and patience to oblige to the countless children and elders for autographs and pictures..it prolonged so much that the organizers had to shut off the lites and doors, beseechingly asking the crowd to move on...."rAma rAma rAma rAma ennirO-vasantA-Purandaradasa" was indeed melliflous and brought back memories of MLVs wonderful rendering..After all is said and done on the technicalities and grammar, I guess its also the impact and the lingering that the music creates is what goes to the credit of the artist and the place he/she holds in the hearts of the rasikas
