There is an adage " tell me who your friends are, I will tell you who you are". This very much applies in the case of concerts as well. Rasikas in general tend to judge a concert based on the the accompanists. They might not have attended the concert. But by associating the accompanists to a vocalist, they can visualise the quality of the concert using the expressions of the reviewer. Therefore, no review of any concert is complete, unless, the accompanists are also mentioned. Absense of such information belies basic courtesy.

Thank you Badari....I have never heard TKV sir as a solo artist, but his accompanying technique is superb. His support to any artist he accompanies is always brilliant and he embellishes the concert the best way it should be done.

Dear Sam Sir,

I agree with you. TKV sir is a very good accompanist. I only heard his solo once back in 1991. It was exclusively post trinity compositions. I still remember the Gaudamalhar (Sarasamukhi) and Poorvikalyani (Parama Pavana Rama) he played. Especially the short skecth of gaudamalhar was like a whiff of fresh cool spring air in the Chennai heat!

Not sure if you've seen them, there are a couple of clips of his on youtube. Here is the link from the search results

CHIT::::

Unnikrishnan (one of the judge in the past 4-5 months in the (airtel super singer 2008 contest in Vijay TV)
mentioned in today's airtel supersinger 2008 that one of the chits from the audience
had a request for phone number of his house so that they can discuss with him about the elimination of the
(one of the) popular singer Prassanna in the semifinal round. Not sure whether it is in this concert.

Revanthv,

Unnikrishnan didnot seem to be unhappy about it.

TV Fever : As you rightly pointed it out, it is a fever. TV is a great medium and if you package it well
it will reach a lot more people.

This program is a very decent music program. This is the best I liked in music talent search so far. unni, Sujatha and
Srini and occasional presence of other celebraty musicians makes this program very popular. There is a carnatic
round too. Out of the top 4 finalists , 2 are carnatic trained. Some of their voices are so gifted.
When they choose the song suited to their voice, it is heaven to liste. The semifinal was Ilaiaraja songs round.
What else we can ask for.

If any of you want to help a carnatic singer (Ranjini) to come as the fourth finalist, please sms SS14 to 57827.
I have voted for her, not that I am related or known to her.

Unnikrishnan ia no doubt a good singer, but in the films and no more a classical performer. I do not how one can enjoy his concerts. It is more on the lighter side. After joining the film industry his music has lost the Azhuththam needed for Carnatic music. Don't you feel?

his success in films only indicates that he has good voice and can hold at least few notes. does not make sense to draw any other extrapolation for carnatic suitability etc. hwen he is inform his kutcheries are among the better ones.

I do enjoy his concerts.

His mayamalagowla, chnadrjyothi, vasantha bairavi, bilahari, kamboji were very good.
He is afterall from the same school as Sanjay , right!....
He is also one of the great CM guys of today. Many people he has diluted CM but I donot think so.
Each one evolves different styles and I donot expect the same from each one.

All Members are knowledgeble. Days have been changed. Whatever it may be members enjoyed Unni concert, that's good.
But don't say that this is only the best concert, there are so many vidways are giving their best to this world.

The personal opinion and appreciation is different, but think deeply what is our South Indian Classical Music.

Yes I did feel this. I don't know how many will agree with me. But I attended his concert in August 2007 and it was really disappointing, He sang Bilahari as the main piece and it was really unsatisfactory. But in the same year in march, he gave a pleasing show for South Indian Cultural association. And according to what i observed[ I dont know what the others think, this is my opinion] His pronunciation of telugu words lacks clarity.
