Concert started briskly with todi varnam, played in two kalams, including charanam. Malayamarutham alapana was by suresh, for about 3 minutes. Durita kala sangathis didn't come out very clearly. Apart from that, alapana was okay, with proper development, pauses in swaras, pa, da & ga. Neraval & swarams were shared by all three, with narmada ending the swaras with a korvai like g- r- s- n- d-.... for 3 avarthanam. A brief alapana by MSG on reetigowlai followed. Mandari alapana was played by Narmada, and she played sangathis in complete tara stayi also. Shanakabharanam alapana was by MSG, again short for a main piece, for 5 minutes. I remember bilahari reporting from San Diego that Shankarabharanam was very similar there also! Here, entire main piece, including thani avarthanam was over in 40 minutes!!! trio shared neraval and swaras. UKS started tani, and then requested suresh to play one more avarthanam (after narmada concluded swara prastaram with a korvai)!!. Soon enough narmada took control, guiding suresh towards completing the swaras. Tani was good, less than 13 minutes. After speech, krishna ni begane followed, and a short neraval was done. Narmada sang neraval for an avarthanam (she did same in shankarabharanam also).

Overall, a good concert, lasting about 2 hour 15 minutes. Narmada announced all songs and ragas.

Thanks, Hari.
Any reason for stating tALam before rAgam in your list? :)
Where in Bangalore did this concert take place?

Thanks, hari. I can't see the pictures completely but it seems MSG can now sit on the ground again? Surprised to see shankarAbharaNam given short shrift again!

Arasi - This is was part of Ramanavami series in fort high school.

It was just an experiment to keep talam, ahead of raagam!! I have seen few posts by mridangam balaji in similar manner.

bilahari - MSG sat on a chair, kept his leg in the stage to position his violin.

Interesting to see - not one person apart from the artistes on stage! :) Nice.. and good snaps.
