Interesting twist! mAnji in your sympathetic verse sounds akin to what people make mukhAri out to be (a far 'cry' from what mukhAri really is like) and may I add, she has majesty and depth? and in my view, she is not proud!
You give yet another word I have not come across before. So, what sort of a sister is husEni?

Nice one.

At any point in history, was Manji as important as Mukhari or Bhairavi? Huseni - May be yes, but other two, I doubt.

Srinivas, perhaps for your next one you can hide the raga mudra in the kriti. And leave it as a quiz for us to solve.
You have a niche talent indeed!

That was an American fantasy,
hearty jumanji...

this "VAS" an 'affabrous-not easy'

With affection he called her
affabrous--

But knows of his affection--
So long as she knows not of

other maidens that he serenades...:)

Nick, sorry, the first two verses in hindi and tamizh are difficult to translate, so I wrote some lines in english for you. May be there are others too, but you for one read our verses...

The ode writer better claim his muse before others carry her away. Or, is he busy penning one about another damsel?

Nice work, Srinivas! And you've inspired our other resident poets--Arasi, CML, Punarvasu--as well, which is an added bonus! Plus a vocab lesson.

I find mAnji easily distinguishable from mukhAri and huseni. Bhairavi is the only thing that stands in the way. Sometimes, I recognise a bhairavi to be a mAnji, but a short while later I realise I'd been too optimistic. :(

I don't think anyone will attempt a mAnji (even just a kriti with not even a short sketch preceding it) without knowing how it's different from bhairavi, mukhAri or husEni. And if they know how it's different, they'll show the difference as best as they can: they can in the sense they'll do it in the best possible manner that occurs to them in that concert.

Srinivas,

Excellent poem!!! Makes a wonderful lakshana geeta type composition in English. Why don't some one tune it in maanji and sing it for the rasikas?
