Coolkarniji,

Didn't see your post when I updated the other thread!

If anyone can record it, that would be great. Else I can get a recording from the channel although that would take a really long time!

I saw this message just on time, around 9.35pm, and when i saw, the singer was singing swara korvai in madhyamavati, and ram played a short tani !!!

Ram - You could have told us in advance, so that we could have watched the program completely

Initially, i thought, Nivedita is going to interview Ram, but after seeing the program, got disappointed(;-

I saw the program for the first time, thanks to cool's sms. It's definitely a nice idea and the presentation is superb. It was wonderful to see the maturity shown by Vilasini.

Isn't she Rajee Gopalakrishnan's student? Ramaraj introduced her to me two years ago. Really would like to hear her sing, and to hear Ram play, of course.

Nivedita,
Looks as though it was a winner again.

nivedita-rams-smvilasini
I did see the program , though not fully from start to end , blame it on IPL as I had to toggle between this channel and IPL live. The program was definitely worth it, quite frankly the biggest plus of the program is that there is no ads in between, so to that extent there is continuity.

Few pluses:
--------------
1. Song selection of mOhanam "rAma ninnu namina " , madhyamAvati "saravana bhava" and paTdeep "gAyathri vanamAli" was very apt , kind of covers all the languages and the rAgas were all noteworthy in the sense it captures immediate attention.

2. Compering was very good , though it gave few shades of as though two college girls talking at times , but overall the musical focus was there. Particularly nivedita asking questions , providing adequate silence for vilAsini to explain was noteworthy (not like the usual channels ). Particularly knowing that she learnt from TSK was a great revelation to me .

3. Both of them played well , rams and the violinist (who was he??) was very good.

Few minuses:
----------------
1. I am not sure if the accompanists names were announced , i think it was not done. Also would be nice if they also put captions of mridangist name and violinist name when they are playing (Not too sure if it was done as I was also looking at IPL at times)

2. Instead of perhaps a little longish alAPana of madhyamAvati , would have been nice if there was more dwelling on madhyamAvathi krithi , neraval and swaras(was there a neraval sung not sure).

3. Rams can :) instead of :|

4. The back drop of the stage was more like a cartoon drawing (is that a modern art),I would have preferred a more carnatic music apt stage background.

OVERALL VERY GOOD Program, (I am seeing this for the first time, obviously the pull was more for rams , but definitely happy to see vilAsini (hopefullly she becomes the next Smt rAji gOpalakrishnan whose music interests me a lot)and the young violinist who played beautifully.)

Another friend of mine asked the same thing and I gave him two answers (2 and 3 below). 1 below is reserved for you :)

1. I smiled when you were watching IPL.
2. The men behing the camera were focussing elsewhere whenever I smiled
3. As coolji wrote in the other thread, my fiancee was watching the show. Answer then is the vice-versa of 2

Just kidding. Thanks for your feedback. Will take care to :) more in the future.

Prashant,
At your concert in Tatva lOkA, we commented on how well Ram played (and on your singing too :) ) but besides me, a few others said too that he looked very serious.

Ram,
eppO Subha muhUrtam? I bet your 'intended' is making you beam all the time off stage:)

rajeshnat, thanks! I try to make the interview as informal as possible, hence the college-girls-talking feel :D

Dear VKV uncle, I've emailed you. :)

Is this show still on. If so when does it air. Any new recordings or are they only reruns.

How are things coming up? No postings of late.
I saw the last one by Akshaya sri. Thought her jalatarangam was completely drowned by the sound of violin and there was loud mrudangam too. As usual nivedita's compering was lively.
