Trinity Music Festival - Dubai
The annual two day Music Festival was organized by the Dubai Music Lovers on 10th & 11th April 2009 in Dubai.
Malladi Suri Babu and Malladi Brothers participated in the event from India
The festival started with the group singing of Thyagaraja’s pancharatna kirtanas by local artistes along with the Malladi’s . This was followed by a felicitation to the visiting artistes.
This was followed by a concert by the Malladi Brothers. They were accompanied by Shri.V.Sanjeev (violin) , Shri.D.Govindarajan ( Mridangam) and Shri. Mahadev Somayaji (Khanjira).
Starting with the begada varnam intha chalamu in adi tala, the brothers sang Rama Bakthi Samrajyam in Suddha Bangala. Saranga - Arunachala nadham of Muthuswami dikshitar followed before taking the sub main raga - reethi gowlai . The kriti a rare mama hridaye of Mysore Vasudevachar was rendered.The main item of the day was Palinchu Kamakshi in Madhyamavati of Syama Sastri. This was followed by tani avartanam by the artistes .
The tail piece section comprised among others , muddugare yasodha (kurunji) and Venkatachala Nilayam (Sindu Bairavi).
The accompanists were in unison capturing the mood of the singer and they elevated the concert .
The second day (11th April 2009 ) featured a concert by a local artist smt. Visalakshi Shankar with Sri. Sanjeev on violin, Thirukudanthai Sri. D. Suresh on Mridangam, Sri. Somayaji on Kanjira, Sri. Ramachandran on Ghatam.
Starting with Kanada Varnam (ata thala - neranammithi) , she sang among others gajananayutham (chakravaham), bagayanayya ( chandrajothi) before taking the submain ( Pantuvarali - Sambo Mahadeva - Thyagraja). This was followed by Akhilandeswari in Dwijavanti . The main item of the day was in Todi - Ninne Nammi of Shyama Sastri followed by thani avarthanam.
Among the tail piece koovi azhaithhal (valaji ) and solla vallayo kiliye was sung, The concert concluded with a thillana in Desh of Sri. Lalgudi Jayaraman..
The accompanists were in their best giving a wholesome effect to the concert.
The two day festival concluded leaving a long lasting impression on the minds of the rasikas.
