As part of an NGO ( Swarohan) whose mission is serving thru music, , we have a request from a school for the poor to teach their children basics of Carnatic music. The school is located abt 45 km from the residence of a guru who is commited to teach but practically is not possible for her to travel that far. Hence Im considering the via-internet teaching option.
I myself have interacted one-on-one online with my guru on a few occasions and have the found the sessions to be very effective. This just required a basic PC configuration with a 256K broadband connection at my end and a basic camera . However, Im not sure, when there is a group of students on the recipient end, what kind of internet speed , camera etc will be good enough. What are the other practical difficulties with this approach? Awaiting some suggestions
