Bing.com is Microsoft's (brand new) answer to google.
I find it returns better results than google, at least for a few of the keywords (related to Carnatic music) that I tried. The videos option is really great.
I also like the video search feature. You can mouse over a frame and wait a few seconds it starts playing without having to visit that site. Mouse out and it stops. You can quickly sample stuff this way. Nice.

The Linux fanboys dream of "The year of Linux on the desktop". But Linux is unlikely to dislodge Windows from the desktop. Ever.
I guess the same applies to search as well. Google is so well entrenched in the minds of people that Microsoft will probably be playing catch-up for a really long time.
Oh-oh. I wasn't intending to start another molehill-to-mountain war here!
Just wanted to provide a pointer to something I found useful, esp in the context of CM.

ravi, This type of search gives you links from other video sites like yahoo, aol etc. But for all practical purposes, most results come from youtube since they are the dominant player in internet video.
Google, though is close to giggle, did not sound trivial when the word was born. Googling opened up a new world and the word commanded respect and admiration. Bing somehow (just the name, mind you) does not wing it for me. Bing bong (not ping pong as in gul garni!) bang bing...again, I don't know how good it is and how much better it is than Google. A bit of a wishy washy name for me, that's all. Bing Crosby? Ah, a much better name...
Bilahari, I agree! One could be waltzing Matilda!
Steve Ballmer said they chose this name so that it is 'verb'able. No one asked Ballmer if it is a regular verb or irregular verb, so we can decide if it is 'bing/binged/binged' or 'bing/bang/bung'
Today some of us do say 'I will ping you' to mean 'chat online'.
('Ping' is to retrieve the IP address of a server.)
'Bing' is not that far a cry from 'Ping'.
"How did you get this wonderful information?"
"I just binged it!"

the latter may be the better choice given that binged also means overly indulged in eating
The name Bing b(i)-ng is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "the hollow shaped like a pot". Place name. Could possibly be inspired by singer Bing Crosby, who was given the nickname after a comic-strip character. Why did Microsoft pick this name?
