Hi,

I read in Paramacharya's 'Deivathin Kural' that Thanjavur RAja Shahaji has written an Astapadi just like Jayadeva.Could someone give me the lyrics for them.IF meaning is available that would also be great.Thank you

In the book sahasi mannarin sAhityangaL the songs are grouped as follows:

vinAyakar stuti, murugan stuti, mahAviSNu stuti, ambikai stuti, tyAgEshar stuti, shiva stuti, bhakti shrngAra songs, nIti kirtanAs and vEdAnta kIrtanAs.

There is no separate group titled aStapadi. If you know the starting words of songs it would help.
I am not sure if this book is still available. I bought it several years ago in Chennai.

I think you are referring to the padams from the pallaki seva prabandham or the kumbEsa-kuravanji..

Isn't an ashTapadi just a composition of 8 lines? So, jayadEva doesn't own the patent on the idea - anyone can compose ashTapadi's. The speciality of gIt gOvind is the sheer profusion of ashTapadis...

I think you are referring to Sivashtapadi composed by the 64th Acharya of Kamakoti peeta.This has been recently published by Kanchi Mutt in the form of a small book
