??? - Nalinakanthi - Lalgudi Jayraman
Seethamma - Vasantha A,S
Guruvayurappane - Reethigowlai Alaapanai
Venkataramana - Begada A ,Neraval ,Swaram at Alarmelmangai

Dayanidhim saddaa.
Thani for 17 mins.
Krishna Nee Begane
Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai - Ragamalika
Valli kanavan - Kavadi Chindu
Pavamaana - Saurashtram

Another good concert by youngster Sakethraman for 3 hours. He was suffering for cold and cough but managed a nice concert well.

Lot of tamil songs where one could identify and enjoy the lyrics.

I arrived late and could not get the lyrics for varnam.

Seethamma had nice swarams .Reethigowlai alaap was moving sung melodiously and he song Guruvayurappane was well sung

Venkatramana had nice neraval at alamelu mangai followed by swaram.

Sarasa saama dana was sung in brisk speed

Mohanam had nice alapana followed by my favourite kapali.

Pallavi in RTP was sung in tisra ata nadai ( I dint get it clearly) but was sung pleasingly.

Krishna nee begane,THeerada vilayatu pillai and Valli kanavan were all enjoyable making audience appreciate.

Madhavans replies were good in Reeti gowlai and Mohanam and Begada.

Trivandrum balaji was good all round although thani lasted 17 mins.
I could feel that may be in Chennai they dont allow thani more than 4 -5 mins and hence artistes when they come to other cities they make use of this time to play long tani.( it is my view)

All in all a wonderful concert by Saketharaman.

I heard that he was going to London for official work after the concert.
I really appreciated the youngsters efforts to sing so well as well as work professionally.

Thanks for the 3 artists for 2 days of blissful time although I could not attend Nisha's concert.

They all have bright future

Anandabhairavi,
Thanks for the review. Some may know more than you do. But having rasanai is the first qualification for writing a review. This is after all the site of RasikAs, and we share our musical experience with others here. It is nice that we have experts too. If they don't write a review, they supplement what we write with their knowledge. Reviews with song lists are not only educative, they help us remember forgotten rAgAs, krutis, composers and give us the names of performers. we do not know. They pique our interest and we end up listening to them when we get a chance.
GuruvAyUrappanE appan is Ambujam Krishna's composition. I know there are several vEnkaTa ramaNA krutis. Don't know of the bEgaDa one. Whose composition is it?

Yes , a very good concert by a very talented youngster, ably supported by the accompanists.-
What he sang was the lathangi composition.-' venkaTaramaNA
The varnam was 'neevE gatiyani' as Lji wrote.
The pallavi was in tisra jAti aTa tALam, set to chaturasra naDai
and it went as
rghuvaram rAghavam rAmam bhajAmi dayAnidhim sadA srI
The two arudhis were 'vam'(of rAghavam) and 'mi' (of bhajAmi)
The gOpuchcha yati of the sAhityam
raghuveeram
rAghavam
rAmam
rAgamAlikA swarams were in sahAna,bowli (though there were more 'sdp' prayOgams resembling rEvagupti than 'sndp' ones of bowli),shyAmkalyAN, and kApi with a brief reverse in the final Avartanam.

A good 3 hour concert.Yes ,the tani was long ; so was it in the earlier 2 days also.
I did not attend Nisha Rajagopal's concert till the end.

Could catch quite a bit of this. Enjoyed most of it. Latangi was sung with flat notes and almost a complete absence of anuswaras, but Saketharaman pulled it off. The violinist N.C.Madhav was very good indeed and played focused alapanas each time which made an impact. There was a glaring suddha madhyamam at the beginning of the Latangi alapana, but like a good batsman not letting a dropped catch affect him, he went on to play a good ragam. Mohanam was also flatter than usual, and when I heard Hindolam for the RTP, I thought that this was not to be my lucky day at all for any gamakams! But the pallavi was well constructed and well sung and the team held the interest throughout, and it was not a token pallavi by any means. Sahana swarams were very good, and although N.C.Madhav did not quite catch on to the Shyam Kalyan (he played more PDNS than PNS, I thought?), it was tuneful overall. Bright young team of musicians. Saketharaman oversang at a few places, but that's OK. Violinist impressed me (I'm hearing of him for the first time) and I look forward to more over the years.

Thanks Arasi madam.Sure I am learning by hearing cutcheris and improving myself.I thought it was begada ( I compare other famous songs and try to identify the ragam.May be that is not the right way) It must be Latangi as experts pointed out. Thanks again.
