It was a lovely concert. Shri Shankar developed the AlApanais very carefully, phrase by phrase, and the violinist followed suit. The tODi AlApanai had some rare phrases like gdm from Shri Shankar and rgs srn from Shri Varadarajan. The supporting vocalist exchanged neraval in kalyANi and tODi and swarams everywhere. His MMG and kalyANi swarams were very good too. Shri Varadarajan's accompaniment was spellbinding at times.

The percussionists supported the vocalists and the violinist very aptly, and the tani was very enjoyable too.

A concert with a lot of sowkhyam, yet engaging at the same time. I look forward to listening to Shri Shankar again.

Thanks to this forum I attended this concert, having read here, I think, that he is an artist that deserves more recognition, but not having heard him before.

Unfortunately I was late (again <Blush>) and came in, I think, during the third item.

Excellent program, and I too look forward to seeing Bangalore Shankar again.

Certainly it is not the first time I have encountered new-to-me artists through Rasikas forum, Mr Cool, alone, has introduced me to several, but I resolve to take more notice of the recommendations of others in the future, for the broadening of my experience.

The Neraval line for Shri Krishnam has to be pankajAsanAdi dEva mahitham.... Phrases like GDM with Panchama Varjyam and those like SRn are quite common in Thodi.

Nice list! Would have loved to be there!

@ Sathej

Those phrases may be present, but the emphasis they need gets lost. I was meditating over rAvE himagiri kumAri earlier that day, so the tODi was resonating with me, and I loved it!

The way Shri Shankar interacted with the accompanists was also very interesting, and coordinated everything well, with generous compliments at the right points.
