Did you see results on http://www.geethaganesan.com/events.htm ?
Remarkably - First Prize in Youth Category went to G Suvarchala (she won the Indian Fine Arts Society contest in Chennai ?)

Thanks for the link,Lakshmi. Looks like Geetha Ganesan's army were better even in 2 categories where Sri devi Nrithyalaya participated and where they got the second. :) (I just checked their web site). But it looks like the rest of the 1st & 2nd prizes in the Classical went to Sri devi Nrithyalaya only. They did not get anything in the solo's in the modern, folk and semi-classical!

coz they didn't participate!

the dancers weren't allowed to take photos or videos of their own performance there, coz akhil bharatiya sanskrutik sangh charged each dancer rs.250 for crappy vcd video.
rs.250 x 100 dancers = rs.25000 / per day
the consolation prizes were plain blocks of wood with pasted paper on them (worth rs.20 each)!

very good business!

and the results were anounced 3 days after competition only.
also 3 days were enough for congress to negotiate the sharing in the cabinet of ministers!

I was told the classical competition started at 9 a.m. and lasted for 17 hours non-stop (till 2 a.m.), with all the age group dancers and the group dances jumbled together, some having to wait for their turn with their makeup on for 10 hours! No schedules were kept (the dancers came from 18 states)! How do you think were the judges judging this mess?

I heard that they charged the dancers a lot for providing very tiny portions of horrible food!

You mean, Suvarchala would not have won if there was someone from Sridevi Nrithyalaya in her age group?
