What is the HM raagam of Panditji's rendition of Jai jagadeeswari - it seems it has a shade of bhUpALam? Can some one clarify this?

It does indeed sound like a mixture of bibhAs and paTdIp. No idea of the rAgA name.

Thanks Sri. Lakshman for the Lyrics postings.

The rag is Bhatiyar (HM)
the details of this raga are:
RAG: BHATIYAR. Thaat Marwa
Aaroha S - r - S - G - m, D - P - G - M - D - S'
Avrohar - N - D - P - m - G - M - G - r - S
Pakad S - D - P - D - m - P - G - M - D - S,

The rag Bhatiyar has resemblance to the ragam 'VARNARUPNI' of CM related to the 17th Mela Suryakantham.
The notes are SRGPDS- SDPGRS. The Rishabam note of the rag Mohanam when changed to R1, it becomes the rag 'Varnarupini'.

In the rag Bhatiyar both Madhyama Nates are used.

Radhe Krishna
Hariharan
